We are very pleased to announce that this year’s CRIM retreat speaker is Dr. Jim Bruckner, Professor of Old Testament at North Park Theological Seminary. Tim and his wife Kris are both very familiar with the Northwest Conference as Jim served churches in the area while completing his M.Div. And Ph.D. at Luther Theological Seminary.
Our hosts will be Covenant Pines and, as was the case last year, there will be a free will offering for the camp to cover the cost of the retreat rather than a registration fee. Please come prepared to donate as generously as possible to the ministry of Covenant Pines (it costs the camp $90 per attendee).
This year under the “just for fun category,” beside the annual Kubb tournament, Tim Johnson, Curator of Special Collections and Rare Books at the University of Minnesota, will be sharing some Sherlock Holmes memorabilia and documents.
The “U” has the world’s largest collection of Holmes material and Tim, a member of the Norwegian Explorers Club, is in charge of this collection. Be sure and bring your deerstalker caps.
Finally, a note about the very low cost of our retreat. CRIM has received a very generous gift from a family who deeply respects and loves the pastors and missionaries from our conference. This gift covers the cost of speakers (and their spouses) including travel expenses. Thus, CRIM attendees are responsible only for the retreat costs and Covenant Pines has graciously agreed to a free will offering.
We are so grateful for God’s blessings and for your service. We look forward to seeing you in September.
