Finishing out this year’s Rural Ministry Webinar series we will be considering Small Church, Big Impact: Pursuing a Transformational Presence in the Community. We recognize that vital rural churches play a more important role than just offering a meeting place for the local congregation. Vital churches bear witness to the transformative work of Christ by also establishing a transformational presence in the community around them.
This is consistent with Jeremiah’s words in chapter 29:7, where he instructs exiled Jews in Babylon to work for the peace, prosperity and welfare of the city where they live, praying for it because its well-being is tied to their own. The application here being, the whole mission of the Church includes the nurture of the civil, social and spiritual well-being of one’s community.
Helping guide our conversation will be Joe Fry, a retired missionary with 35 years of experience in training whole-life discipleship across cultures in 23 countries spanning five continents. He has also been a guest teacher in the Oak Hills Rural Ministry Certificate program. Register today and plan to join us for a more interactive conversation with Joe around the relationship between community engagement and the missional impact of a local church.
