NWC 2025 summer ministry roundup
The Northwest Conference is excited to highlight short and encouraging glimpses into what God has done throughout our region during summer 2025. We’re celebrating faithfulness, fresh vision and the beauty of ministry in all shapes and sizes!
Real Life Covenant Church, Waseca, MN
Real Life Covenant Church in Waseca, MN, sent a 12-person team to Nome, AK, to help construct a housing triplex for volunteers serving KICY Christian Radio. Ours was the last of a series of teams from around the country, and the work varied from interior framing to exterior siding, painting and roofing.
The project had suffered delays due to weather and shipping issues, so completing the exterior was urgent. We were blessed with excellent subarctic weather, which enabled us to make the building nearly weather-tight. Now future volunteers will proceed on indoor construction. Our team was deeply blessed to serve!
Living Waters Covenant Church, Worthington, MN
For three years in a row Living Waters Covenant Church has partnered with three other churches in the community to hold Community Kids’ Camp, a community VBS. This summer it was LWCC’s turn to host the event.
Kids’ Camp meets Monday through Thursday evenings with supper served, followed by two hours of worship, story, games, crafts and science. Volunteers from all four churches help to make the event a success.
With this year’s theme, “Make A Splash with Jesus,” kids heard the stories of Jesus calming the storm, the Samaritan woman, Jesus walking on the water, and the calling of the disciples and were taught that Jesus is our protector, he loves us no matter what, amazing things happen when we trust Jesus and that God has a purpose for our lives. Families were invited to eat supper with their children, and over 100+ people were fed each evening with each church taking a turn to serve the meal.
An average of 75-80 children attended Kids’ Camp each evening, and it was a delight to hear the kids sing songs about Jesus, share what they had learned and laugh with their friends. An additional joy is that the kids get to see friends from school participating in a Christian event.
Sanctuary Covenant Church, Minneapolis, MN
This summer, the Sanctuary Covenant Church hosted weekly youth art and basketball camps. Over 10 weeks, just under 100 youth attended these sessions. Youth interns from our church and the community helped lead these programs!
Prairie Hills Covenant Church, Sioux Falls, SD
This summer we are building a community playground. We partnered with a local high school worship movement, Z8. We are also looking forward to our annual Family Fun Night.
We had over 600 students here for worship, testimonies and a youth led message. Many neighborhood children are eagerly awaiting the finished playground to use. The Family Fun Night is our way of engaging with the families and members of the community, sharing a meal, playing games and sharing the joy of the Lord.
