Welcome to Spiritual Direction in the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church
“For God alone my soul waits in silence and quietly submits to Him, For my hope is from God.” – Psalm 62:5
Are you seeking a deeper relationship with Christ?
Spiritual Direction is a ministry of holy listening with a trained spiritual companion. Together, through prayer and discernment, one may grow in awareness of the presence of God, the movement of the Holy Spirit, and a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ.
Are you seeking to affiliate with other Spiritual Directors for community and growth?
The Northwest Conference Spiritual Directors Network gathers, learns, and serves together for the ministry of serving congregants, lay leaders, staff, and pastors in the practice of holy listening and seeking God in all areas of their lives.
“Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” – Matthew 11:28-30 The Message (MSG)
About Spiritual Direction
Spiritual Direction is a ministry that offers sacred space to explore the presence and movement of God in one’s life. An experienced spiritual companion listens to another’s lived experience and joins in listening for the movement and direction of the Holy Spirit.
In spiritual direction, it is believed that God is the true Spiritual Director. Through conversation, prayer, space, and silence, one can practice stepping into God’s light and listening for God’s voice.
In a spiritual direction session, a directee meets with a director for a designated time to listen together for the presence of God in the directee’s life. Sessions can be in person or virtual. The frequency and duration of the sessions can be determined through the directee’s and director’s discernment.
The Spiritual Directors of the Northwest Conference are clergy and lay professionals trained through accredited institutions, are members of the Association of Covenant Spiritual Directors, and receive ongoing direction and supervision from trained professional spiritual directors.
