Together with Minnehaha Academy, the Northwest Conference is excited to host Dr. Kara Powell from Fuller Youth Institute as she leads a seminar for parents and grandparents. Learn More.

Go:Serve is a new NWC Family event, intended to bring Northwest Conference families together for a shared learning and outreach opportunity. This NWC Family event is targeted to families of all kinds with children in pre-K through upper elementary school, and will take place at Redeemer Covenant Church in Brooklyn Park, MN. Resources will be provided for families to learn together, debrief and reflect on the experience together. Speaker: Scott Peterson has worked with kids for over 30 years. He’s a native Minnesotan who has served as the children’s pastor at Redwood Covenant Church in Santa Rosa, CA, for the past 19 years. Scott says he learned everything he knows about ministry at Lake Beauty Covenant Bible Camp in Long Prairie, MN. He describes his ministry as “looking more like a camp than a church.”

Topic – From Chaperones to Shepherds: Equipping your volunteers to engage in the spiritual formation of kids. This is also a perfect opportunity to enjoy fellowship with other youth workers in our conference. There is no agenda other than to relax and refresh yourself. Spouses are welcome to come as well. The Northwest Conference Children & Family Ministry Commission is once again hosting a training event for all Children & Family Staff Ministers on Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Plymouth Covenant Church in Plymouth, MN. The featured speaker will be Denise Kjesbo, professor and lead faculty of the Master of Arts in Children’s and Family Ministry Program at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. What do we mean by “real biblical teaching” for our children? And how can the church help parents with this at home? The Children & Family Commission is excited to sponsor “Imagine: A day for those serving Children & Families.” The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at First Covenant Church in Willmar, MN. Imagine is designed to connect people who work with kids, deliver concepts to apply to your ministry, and provide a place to share ideas and ask questions. The event is FREE and open to anyone who works with kids. Lunch will be provided.

Connection is a time for those serving in youth ministry to come together for encouragement, equipping, and personal and corporate renewal. The Connection offers times of worship, learning, fellowship, and networking for youth pastors. Connection 2011 will take place in Chicago, Ill. The dates are Jan. 29-31, 2011.

A one-day training conference at Berean Baptist Church in Burnsville being co-sponsored by the NWC for staff & volunteers serving children and youth.

S.A.L.T. is a one-day leadership training conference for student leaders. We encourage churches to bring their student leadership teams as another way to further develop their student leaders for the church. S.A.L.T. 2010 will take place at Bloomington Covenant  Church, Bloomington, MN. More details coming soon.
